The Beginning of My University Journey

Actually my first semester have not finished yet, but I just want to share how do I adapting my university life and balance my study performance. Actually I never knew that UKM is using fully Malay Language in the curriculum. So, personally I feel quite surprised with this because I never learn any of my subjects in Malay Language. I am coping to this situation by borrowing malay reference books from the library. In the beginning I keep on paying fine for late renewing books fron the library. Sooner, I get used to it and know how to manage my borrowed books well.

So, during mid semester exam, my marks were not revealed except for accounting subject. I've managed to get B for this subject. I know it is not something to be proud of, but I already satisfied with the result. I am not an account student, and I never learn it anywhere. I do feel pressure and always feel reluctant to go to class because I feel like I am the dumbest person in the class. I sit among the students who master accounting quite well. I aimed to do much better for my final semester exam.

My IB Diploma Programme Years

Whenever I said that I am in International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme student, then people will ask me what is IB. This programme is a 2 years of preparation program to oversea. So IB is a curriculum which made up of six subject groups and the programme core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay. Through the programme core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake a project that often involves community service.

There are a lot of components will be assessed in this programme that sometimes people said that IB students do not have life. Yes, I would agree that we are busy, but not having life is too exaggerating. Main key to success in this programme is time management. Truth to be told, I did not manage to go to oversea because I didn't pass the exam. It is the saddest thing that ever happen in my life, but to keep on feeling sad is just not me. I am an optimistic people. So I stand up again and venturing my future positively. This is an era where I hit the bottom rock line and I promise to myself that I do not want to fail in my study again. Life is like a wheel, sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down.

My Secondary School Years

Being gathered among the intellectual students, makes the competition becomes harder. I always be in the top 60. My best achievement during secondary school is in 2009 which I successfully  placed 8th. Two biggest exam during secondary years, is PMR (Penilaian Menengah Rendah) and SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia).

I sat for my PMR exam in 2011. During this time I was the assistant batch leader and at the same time is the class representative for class 3 Usaha. Being in this position makes me to do some brainstorming with other batch high committees to come out with a module that can ensure the flying colours of the whole students in the batch. We have mentoring session, mock test session and tutoring session. We even provide one-to-one session with students that have problems in mastering the subjects. During PMR, we have 8 subjects and I successfully secured 8A's.

In 2013, I sat for my SPM exam. I think this exam is quite tough because along the 2 years of struggling, I involve with quite a lot of extracurricular activities. It's hard to comprehend certain things, when you missed some classes and need to study on my own. My academic performance was fluctuating in 2012 but becoming stable again in 2013. I took science stream which is Biology Chemistry and Physics for my SPM and total subjects are 9. Thank God, I successfully attained 5A+ and 4As.

My Primary School Years

From 2003-2005, I have always been the top 2 in class. Maybe class placement is randomly distributed. So, the competition is not that tough. But when the class has been filtered every year in 2006-2008, I've become the top 10. Then, it shows I am not that smart enough to put on hold the top 2 achievement. Don't worry, my parents still give me morale support to keep on striving the best in my academic affairs.

However, truth to be told the major concern of primary school students is the Public Examination, UPSR (Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah). This exam is like an assessment for me to get into boarding school or any excellence school for my secondary school years. UPSR consists of 5 subjects during 2008. It was Bahasa Melayu Pemahaman, Bahasa Melayu Penulisan, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik dan Sains.

Luckily, I successfully had 5A's in UPSR and on top of that, I received an offer to a boarding school in Cyberjaya. I am so happy that I can make my parents proud with that achievement.
